TV tunes

I've been trying to think about a new post, but I'm really distracted by the television. So I give you my favorite songs about the television.

Coffee and TV (mp3) - Blur

TV Pro (mp3) - The Vines

TV Star (mp3) - Butthole Surfers

I have a deep and intense affection (one might even call it a love) for infomercials. This song, though not a genre I love, is a great tribute.

7 Days To Change Your Life (mp3) - Jamie Cullum

My favorite television theme song of all time:

The Greatest American Hero (mp3) - Joey Scarbury

Good songs... Had never heard the one by the Vines. I like it.

But what's your favourite infomercial? Ronco Electric Food Dehydrator? Sproutin' Onion? Juiceman II?

trill--my fave infomercials are easily the Popeil ones--huge sets of cutlery and knife block, scissor sets, stovetop smoker and those special spices and rubs... i've purchased nothing, but i will be a faithful voyeur for years to come!!

Troy, excellent choices. You can't go wrong with Popeil. Also, "spices and rubs" would be a good name for ... pretty much anything. (Faithful Voyeur is a touch on the creepy side, but otherwise not bad for a band name)

You also just made me remember a crank call I made as a kid in response not to an infomercial but to an infomercial-like ad. It was for some kind of cutting device and the announcer said in a way that struck me as hilarious, "It slices! It dices! It juliannes!" So I called and, deadpan, asked if they could tell me whether the product "julianned." They had to go check. It took a while. They came back and told me it did. I thanked them. That was pretty much it. I somehow expected a funnier outcome. Thanks to Caller i.d. kids can't get away with that kind of malicious nonsense anymore.
